Some thoughts from Suzanne St. Martin
So...You're Saved?? You Said A Prayer...Right??
by Suzanne St. Martin

I'm in the middle of reading the most fascinating book, "Maria Woodworth-Etter" 'For Such A Time As This' by Wayne Warner. I'm struck by the major differences in the way people were being saved (converted) in Sister Etter's time and the way people are saved (converted??) today.

What's wrong with this picture?

When Sister Etter held one of her fiery meetings, people were so convicted of their sins that many fell on their faces CRYING out to God to forgive them. Sometimes this continued for hours. It would seem from written documents that REAL change took place. Right away those folks were baptized in water and the Holy Spirit.

The Bible tells us we are to work out our salvation with "trembling and fear". Today we see so many who are teaching that if you just ask Jesus into your heart, you are saved. Something about this really nags at my spirit. First, I have been unable to find anything in the scriptures that even resembles saying a prayer to be saved.

In the Bible, ALWAYS, these three things happened at conversion:

1. REPENTANCE
2. WATER BAPTISM
3. BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Where' s Repentance?

It would seem that not many churches are teaching or preaching repentance today. In fact, I can't remember when I heard the word "repent" in a church since I've been an adult. I find that sad. It seems to me then that many in our churches are not really saved. They think they are and they have been told they are, but where is the repentance and the real change?

Revivalists Of Old

I've read much material about the old revivalists. Most of them held meetings similar to Sister Etter and most of them got similar responses from the crowds being saved (converted). It seems that most of the conversions started with "saved" people already in churches. I think that is where revival must start today. In churches, with repentance.

Healing Anointing??
by Suzanne St. Martin
www.lit4ever.org

People keep asking me how I can have a healing anointing when I get sick myself. Good question. One I don't have the answer to. Over the years I've come to the conclusion that the enemy attacks you where your anointing is the strongest.

I've studied Smith Wigglesworth and Maria Woodworth-Etter, among many others, and found they had serious health problems. A lot of people aren't aware of that. Did that mean that their anointing wasn't real?? Hardly. I think it means the enemy wanted to convince them of that. It didn't work though. :)

Imagine holding healing services for thousands of people and having the devil whispering in your ear, "You can't get anyone healed. You can't even heal yourself." TRUE! Jesus is the healer! Even Paul had a thorn in his side to keep him humble. Could this be why even Smith Wigglesworth and Maria Woodworth-Etter had such serious health problems?? I don't know. Plain and simple.

I do know that Brother Wigglesworth and Sister Etter had truly amazing anointings. It's pretty obvious that the healings didn't come from their weak flesh. Only Jesus could do the signs, wonders and miracles that followed these people. Could it be that that's what Jesus was trying to get across?? Maybe.

I don't even begin to have all the answers. I can only do what the Lord tells me to do. Through Him I can do all things. In my own flesh I can do nothing. Some get healed and some don't. But, if I stop praying for any to be healed, then none of those will be healed. We must all do what we are led to do and let the Lord take care of the rest.

Blessings,

"Faith To Raise The Dead??"
by Suzanne St. Martin
www.lit4ever.org

I seldom write articles as my grammer and spelling are not the worlds best. However, I recently received a prayer request that made me stop and think, and I felt I needed to write about it.

The request was from a Spirit-filled man who requested prayer to raise a friend from the dead.

How many times have we told others that we believe this is possible and have quoted the scriptures to back up this belief? We've all heard the stories about Smith Wigglesworth and other more recent revivalists. But, how many times have we been put on the spot to actually pray for it?

If the person isn't raised, is it lack of faith on our part? Is it Gods will? Did we do something wrong, or pray wrong? Were there too many unbelievers in the midst?

I don't have the answers to any of this. All I can do is what the Spirit leads me to do. I don't know why some are raised and others not. I don't know why some are healed and others not. Maybe we will be taught this by the Holy Spirit and maybe not. Maybe we won't have these answers until we go to meet the Lord.

I do believe the Lord wants us to keep praying for these miracles. Some will be raised and some will be healed and our faith will be increased as that happens. The important thing is not to lose faith if we see no results. I believe the time is coming very soon when the Holy Spirit will be poured out on us all and we will see miracles that we can't even comprehend right now. And, many will believe and come to the Lord because of what they have seen and heard.

In the mean time I believe this scripture:

"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." Matthew 10:8

God Bless You,
